The short answer: Typefully and WriteStack can both schedule Substack Notes. Typefully added Notes on every plan, including Free, on 27 July 2026, and puts them in one calendar with X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon. WriteStack is built around Substack itself: a weekly Notes queue you Sync through your own browser, drafts in your voice, Notes ranked by the subscribers they brought, and one feed for comments and mentions. Pick Typefully if a multi-network text calendar is the job. Pick WriteStack if Substack Notes growth is the job. Plenty of writers use both.
Based on Typefully's pricing page, changelog and Help Center, WriteStack pricing and docs, and Substack Help, checked 5 Nov 2026.
Your home might be X or LinkedIn, with Substack Notes riding along. Or your home is Substack, and X is the side channel. That one question decides most of this comparison.
Both tools now put Notes on a schedule, so "can it schedule Notes?" no longer separates them. What separates them is what happens around the Note: which other networks you post to, whether you can see which Notes brought subscribers, and who the AI is trying to sound like.

Quick answers
Can Typefully schedule Substack Notes? Yes. Since 27 July 2026 you can create and schedule Notes in Typefully, free for all users (Typefully changelog). You add Substack to a Social Set, then publish now or schedule (Typefully Help).
Can Typefully publish Substack newsletter posts? No. Typefully's Help Center says it supports Substack Notes only, and publishing long-form newsletter posts is not supported. WriteStack schedules Notes too, and its scheduling is also Notes only.
How much does each cost? Typefully has a Free plan with 10 posts a month, Creator at $99 a year (annual billing only), and Business at $18 a month per social set billed yearly (Typefully pricing). WriteStack starts at $19.99 a month billed annually, or $23.99 monthly, with a 7-day free trial (WriteStack pricing).
Can I use them together? Yes, side by side. There is no Typefully and WriteStack integration, so each tool handles its own Notes. A common split is Typefully for X and LinkedIn, WriteStack for Substack.

What Typefully is good at
Typefully is a writing-first social calendar. You write once, preview how a post will look on each network, and schedule it to X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon from one place (Typefully pricing). Since July, Substack Notes sit in that same calendar, so a launch thread on X and a follow-up Note can be planned together (Typefully changelog).
The Notes support keeps getting better. On 9 October Typefully added quote posts for Substack Notes, and on 28 October it added mentions and video (Typefully changelog). Typefully's Help Center article, dated 5 August 2026, still says videos aren't supported for Notes, so the October changelog entry is the newer word (Typefully Help). The Realistic Preview shows how a Note will look before it goes out.
Cross-posting one draft is easy. You can turn on Substack next to other networks in the same draft. One catch from Typefully's own FAQ: a multi-post draft, such as an X thread, gets combined into a single Substack Note, so review the Substack version before it ships.
The free plan is generous for trying it. It covers all platforms, advanced scheduling and Typefully's API and MCP, with 10 posts a month and one social set. Creator adds X analytics, AI writing features and unlimited media uploads. Business adds team features like comments, roles and Slack notifications (Typefully pricing).
Tip: If most of your audience lives on X, Typefully's X analytics and engagement tools, like Auto-Plug and Thread Finisher, are reasons to keep it in your stack whatever you use for Substack.
What Typefully can't do alone for Substack growth
It can't tell you which Notes brought subscribers
Typefully's analytics are X analytics: detailed metrics, profile conversion rate and posting streaks (Typefully pricing). Its pricing page doesn't list Substack stats. So you can schedule a Note, and you won't see in Typefully whether that Note turned readers into subscribers.
WriteStack's Notes Performance view ranks your Notes by the free and paid subscribers they brought in (WriteStack docs). That number tells you what to write next week.
It doesn't give you a Substack inbox
Notes growth runs on replies. Typefully's pricing page doesn't list a Substack comments or mentions feed. WriteStack's Activity Center puts comments and mentions from Substack in one feed, so you can work through them in one sitting (Activity Center docs).
Its AI learns your social voice
Typefully's Writing Assistant learns your tone, vocabulary and structure, and it can turn voice memos and scattered notes into posts (Typefully changelog). That's a real strength for social writing. WriteStack starts from your Substack: it builds a writing style from your publication and studies your Notes from the last 180 days for patterns in openers, length, endings and topics (writing style docs). If your Substack voice differs from your X voice, that difference matters.
What WriteStack is good at
WriteStack is a creator OS for Substack. Notes are the center of it.
A weekly queue. You mark Notes Ready and drop them onto a weekly posting template. Hobbyist holds 20 queued Notes, Standard 100, and Enterprise has no cap (plans and limits).
Sync through your own browser. Open WriteStack on your computer, go to scheduled Notes, and click Sync. The WriteStack Chrome extension hands the Notes to Substack using the account you're logged in to. Once synced, Substack holds each scheduled Note and publishes it at its time (Sync docs).
Attribution. Notes Performance shows which Notes brought free and paid subscribers, so you can write more of what works.
Activity Center. Comments and mentions from Substack in one feed, on Standard and Enterprise.
Evergreen Notes. Your best Notes can go out again on a schedule, with no separate plan limit.
Cross-posting with Buffer. On Standard and Enterprise, you can send Notes to other networks through your Buffer account, with up to 10 active channels on Standard (cross-posting docs). Buffer is a friendly partner here. For writers who want one more network without a second calendar, it closes the loop.
What WriteStack can't do alone
WriteStack doesn't write X threads or LinkedIn carousels, and it doesn't give you X analytics. If X is your main channel and you live in a calendar of threads, polls and replies, a social tool like Typefully does that job better.
Sync needs your computer. Notes wait in WriteStack until you open it on a computer with the extension installed and Substack logged in, then click Sync. After that, Substack does the publishing.
Struggling to stay consistent on Substack?
Batch and queue your Substack Notes in minutes, track which Notes convert subscribers, and grow without burning out.
Substack's own scheduler
Substack has a free Notes scheduler. In the Notes composer on the web, you click the calendar icon, pick a date and time, and click Schedule (Substack Help). If you post a few Notes a week and don't need a queue, stats by Note or other networks, that may be all you need. Our Substack native scheduling guide walks through it.

Typefully's Business plan also has a monthly billing option; the figure above is the yearly rate shown on its pricing page. Every WriteStack plan has a 7-day free trial and can be canceled anytime.
On price alone, Typefully Creator costs less over a year than any WriteStack plan. You're paying for different things. Typefully's money buys a multi-network calendar and X analytics. WriteStack's buys the Substack queue, voice, attribution and inbox.
Who should pick which
Pick Typefully if X or LinkedIn is where you grow, you want one calendar for every network, and Substack Notes are one more channel in the mix. The free plan is enough to test it.
Pick WriteStack if Substack is home and Notes are how you find subscribers. You get a weekly queue, drafts that sound like your newsletter, Notes ranked by subscribers and one feed for replies.
Use both if you're serious about X and about Substack. Typefully runs your threads and LinkedIn posts. WriteStack runs your Notes and tells you which ones grew the list. Just don't schedule the same Note in both, or it goes out twice.
