What Substack Post Gallery is
Post Gallery puts a set of posts inside a single Note. Substack's announcement says it "allows you to create a single post on Substack Notes that shares up to 20 individual posts" (Substack on X, 28 October 2026).
Substack's reason is reach in its app. It says "millions of avid readers and listeners" use the app to discover writing, and Post Gallery makes it "even easier to share your best work directly into the app feed, so new fans can find you."
Substack has no Help article on it yet, so the steps below follow the announcement and its screenshot.

How to make a Post Gallery Note
- Start a new Note. On the web, click "Create" and then "Note". In the app, tap the plus sign (Substack Help).
- Click the three dot menu in the Notes composer.
- Select "Post Gallery".
- In the "Select posts" window, use the "Your posts" tab for your archive or the "Activity" tab for posts you've recently viewed or liked. Search finds a post by title.
- Tick up to 20 posts and click the add button, which counts your picks ("Add 2 posts" after two). "Cancel" backs out.
- Post the Note.
Tip: if the composer lets you add text alongside the gallery, write a line saying who the set is for ("New here? Start with these five"). That's our advice. Substack hasn't said how text and galleries combine.
What you can put in a gallery
Substack names two uses: "your favorite posts from your own published archive" and "a collection of your top reads of the week." So a gallery can hold your own posts and other writers' posts. The picker's Activity tab lists posts under "Recently viewed" and "Liked".
Substack hasn't said:
- whether paid posts, podcasts, videos or Notes can go in a gallery
- whether you can reorder the posts before you publish
- whether you can edit a gallery after it's posted
- how the gallery looks to readers in the feed
Post Gallery vs restacks, images and post embeds
A restack shares one post or Note with your followers. Here's how restacks work.
Substack Help says you can add up to 6 images or GIFs to a Note (Substack Help). Those are pictures. A Post Gallery holds posts readers can open.
Post embeds live in newsletter posts: paste a Substack post URL into a post and it becomes a card preview (Substack Help). Embeds reach your email subscribers, and a Post Gallery lives in Notes.

- A start here pack. Your five to ten best posts for people who just followed you.
- A series in reading order. Every part of a multi-part series in one place.
- Best of by theme. "Everything I've written on pricing" in one Note.
- Weekly top reads. Other writers' best posts from your week. It's the gallery version of sharing other writers' work.
- An anniversary or year in review. Your most read posts from the year.
Tip: a tight set of five gives a new reader an obvious place to start.
Where Post Gallery fits in your Notes routine
Use a gallery for roundups and single-post Notes for everything else. Each new post can still feed several Notes of its own when you turn one post into a week of Notes.
